Implementing Viscosity Index Calculations

In order to get your Viscosity Index equations to calculate properly, please do the following:

1.      Verify that you have the file FM_VI.ini file in the \Formulator folder.   If you do not have this file please contact Formulator support.

2.      Create 4 physical properties for  Centistokes at various temperatures if they are not already in your database.

a.      Go to menu option (920) Physical Properties setup

b.      Use your lookup to verify that you do not already have the properties created.

c.      Create a “high” and a “low” for centistokes @ 40 C and 100 C.  This is a total of 4 properties.

d.      Here is an example of the Centistokes @ 100 C High:

3.      Under each raw material populate the properties for the viscosity calculation (see picture below)

4.      Verify the equations are entered under (840) Equation Maintenance – sample picture below

5.      Under (20) Formulation Maintenance users may select a formula and view the equation results on the <Formulation> tab
