Assigning CAS numbers to raw materials

·        All CAS numbers should first be entered under (25) Hazmat File Maintenance:

·        You may choose to enter “Trade Secret” under <report as> where applicable

·        Optional: create a generic record with the code “Trade Secret” to represent your vendors trade secrets

·        No need to create multiple codes for vendor’s trade secrets unless you are entering other specific information such as GHS ratings

·        After CAS records have been entered under (25) Hazmat File Maintenance they are then assigned to raw materials under (10) Raw Materials Maintenance

·        IMPORTANT:  if any CAS number assigned to raw materials does not exist under (25) Hazmat file maintenance the system will assume that this is CAS is inert. This is true regardless of the CAS number entered.
