Lab-book Chem System Functions

FORMULATOR™ Chem Version Lab-Book Plus is the core program for all other versions and add-on modules.  Lab-book Plus is supplied with all of the tools to develop your materials data base, build the properties files, create performance equations (standard equations are supplied with the program), enhance weight and volume conversions to be used at all levels of calculation, document your quality control tests and regulatory data and make them part of the formula development and testing documentation. User functions can be set by the primary user to limit changes to critical functions

Development Screens

These screens are the main Lab-Book working modules for formula development and automatic calculation of formula performance. Performance calculations are based on user developed and modified calculation logic.  Multiple pre-set screens can be user developed depending on the chemistry requirements.

Tree Viewer

The formula tree analysis screens allows the Formulating Chemist to see the full formula explosion to view the intermediate materials at multi-level and in summary of all materials used in the formula. Several versions of the same formula (actual weights and measures, % weight, % volume) can be seen in sequence or on two screens. Or two formulas can be seen at the same time. Tools are provided to modify a formula while using the viewer and cut and paste from one formula to another to modify an existing formula or create a new formula.

Formula Compare Functions

Formula Compare allows the user to select any number of formulas to compare materials and quantities at top level on a % weight or % volume basis.  The user can explode the intermediates which will combine with the same materials at all levels and output the formula in the basic components as required for MSDS and label output.   The User can edit one or more selected formulas from the compare screen, save and see the comparative results of the reformulation.

Chem QC Documentation

While creating raw material records and formulas Quality Control procedures and tests can be assigned to each for incoming materials QC as well as formulation testing and production QC.  A series of tests with the procedures can be built and called into new raw materials or formulas as a series.  The specific targets, low, high and warning targets can then be added by material or formula.  Customer specific QC requirements can also be added without creating a new formula.  Long term QC testing of materials, test batches and production batches is also supported.

Regulatory Data

The regulatory data and hazardous materials data is captured with each raw material and can also be entered in the formula.  This data serves as a reference for shipping and worker safety.  It is used directly in the MSDS development REGULATOR module and can be reviewed and analyzed as needed.  FORMULATOR supports risk and safety data for the United States (OSHA), Canada (WIMIS) and the EU.  Additional jurisdictional data can be entered by any User defined location (i.e. by state, region (such as Prop. 65 for California), or country).

Formula Cost Analysis

Formula Cost analysis allows the user to build a variety of Packaging Bills of Materials (BOM), show the product fill amounts automatically filling from the formula, adding Labor and Overhead costs.  This analysis also creates the final product Stock Keeping Unit (SKU).  By adding margin goals a first order of pricing is calculated.
